My Friends,

In today’s column, Barry Rozner puts forth the question whether “you find yourself laughing uncontrollably at the daily change of direction and philosophy in Lake Forest, or do you just want to throw the remote through the TV?”

For me it would be laughing uncontrollably, because I wouldn't be able to watch the Blackhawks if I threw my remote through the TV. Just remember, after laughing comes crying.

I can't stand it, but at least they demoted Babich, now the titular defensive coordinator. The problem is that as head coach Smith is supposed to be overseeing every aspect of the team, and the new line is that he'll be more involved with running the defense.

Now I'm just asking: given his new responsibilities, how much input do you think Smith will have into the offensive game plan? How much time will he have for it? If the answer is "the same as in 2008," that means Babich is still drawing up the plan on the defensive side of the ball and the 2009 edition is doomed to another sub par year.

Unless Marinelli will be looking over Babich’s shoulder. Is that a good thing? I think bringing Marinelli in to light a fire under Tommie Harris, fix Mark Anderson and develop the rest of that DL is a brilliant move, but isn't it a bit ironic that Babich has more experience as a defensive coordinator than Marinelli?

Rivera in 2010, indeed!
