My Friends,
How many ways are there to rout a really bad football team? Besides an
overwhelming desire to drop a case of Korbel on Bob Kuchenberg's balding pate,
this week's game doesn't stir much in the way of emotion. It sure does get old
hearing about the '72 Dolphins, but we can take comfort that they're never even
at the starting gate when the greatest teams of all-time are discussed, much
less in the photo at the finish.
Cliff Stein has been busy this week, signing Kreutz and McKie to contract extensions
before the deadline for prorating the bonus in 2006 runs out. The Bears still
have some room to play with, so don't be surprised if another name or two get
added to that list before the clock runs out on Monday.
Talk at you then.
